Spice box
Spices and herbs were precious commodities in the 18th
century and were usually kept in a locked box. This spice box is made out of
cherry as a primary wood and cypress as a secondary. It is finished with
aniline dye and shellac. I have made several jewelry boxes using this design
and size.

Cellarette
The cellarette is an 18th Century design. It
was a piece of dining room furniture designed to hold case bottles containing
wine or spirits. Historically, the wines and spirits were kept under lock and
key. Typically, the cellarette also included serving shelf and drawer.
